Once in town, we went to the outfitter/ ice cream place, a unique and ingenious combination if you ask me! We had some lunch and ice cream, then went to the shoe place for new boots. My trail runners had been with me over rocks upon rocks since Harper's Ferry. Got some more substantial boots in preparation for the Whites.
Then, my patents arrived on town! I hadn't seen them in four months. And now they were here. We got a hotel the next town over, showered and wiped down our packs and did laundry. (Thank goodness! We smelled like a combination of sweat and wet clothes, and swamp water. I think it's the stickiest I've ever been!)
We enjoyed a nice dinner at the Fife and Drum and called it an early night.
