The day was pretty easy terrain, lots of bugs. A rattlesnake. Lots of day hikers out and about. There had been so much rain lately that most if the streams were overflowing and a lot of the trail was flooded, as well. But overall, we had fast terrain and reached the shelter at 2:30. The shelter was full with weekend hikers, the sky was still blue, and it seemed too early to stop. So Sub and I decided to push out another 6 miles into Lickdale. We left word for Road Runner with some from our hiker bubble; Rabbit, Sparky, and Woodman, who were tenting near the shelter.
The last 6 miles, of course are always hardest. But we made it to the road, got a hitch quickly, and spent the night at the Days Inn. After checking in and showering, we went next door to Wendy's to eat dinner. And right after we stepped inside, the skies opened up and it started pouring. Perfect timing!
