I rather liked the stroll through the zoo. It changed things up a bit. The animals were all born & raised in captivity, not caught from the wild. And quite frankly, I think it was a bear's idea of paradise; they sit around all day, napping and playing with their toys, and then somebody brings them food.
Upstate picked us up at 3:30and took us to his house on West Point. I'll say this: West Point is impressive! We got a tour from the car as Upstate took the scenic route home. Back at his place, we did the usual- shower, laundry, air out the pack and ate the Oreos and Snickers he had waiting for us. After a quick resupply, we picked up Mrs Upstate at the train station.
We were treated to a HUGE delicious meal- burgers, chicken, steak on the grill, salad, veggies, ice cream! It was wonderful.
And wonderful to sleep in air conditioning.
Plus, we got to play and bond with their new black lab puppy. It's always great to stay at a home with a dog.
And just like that, I went from feeling horrible to feeling wonderful.
