Slack Pack #2

July 22: Up and out by 7, Mom & Dad dropped us off at the trail by 7:30. Then they drove ahead 12 miles to drop off trail magic.
We started off through a field followed by a climb, steady but not too hard. We had one rather steep treacherous descent down some stone steps. Slow going, I'm glad I didn't have a full pack. We walked alongside the Housatonic River for a flat, fast 4 miles. Then a climb, a descent, and trail magic! We sat down with some other hikers for cold drinks. Met our first southbounder, Bear. More climbs and river crossings, more forest walking and finally through a corn field, onto the street, and into the town of Falls Village, where Mom & Dad had dropped off our stuff at the Toy Makers Cafe.
Spent the night tenting outside the cafe. Rainy, humid night.

While you're here, be sure to check out  the charity I'm hiking for: Devoted2Children a  great organization which funds a home for orphaned children in Haiti.
